The Senior Program Manager, based in Abuja, will collaborate with the project director and other team members to strategically engage with Nigerian government agencies. The role involves substantial contributions to coordination, implementation tracking, project reporting, and overall accountability for EGHS projects. Responsibilities encompass strategic, programmatic, technical, financial, and grants management integrity. The Senior Program Manager will oversee workplan implementation, ensure compliance with donor and organizational regulations, develop monitoring systems, and contribute to overall program management. Quality assessment, provision of technical assistance, collaborative approaches, and effective program documentation are integral aspects of the role.


  • Provide program management and technical oversight, ensuring alignment with donor and Government of Nigeria (GoN) priorities.
  • Support project performance management, work planning, budget development and tracking, and stakeholder management.
  • Implement rigorous analytical management systems and ensure team compliance to achieve financial, administrative, and programmatic goals.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of workplan monitoring systems.
  • Coordinate administrative and finance support units to ensure timely and quality services.
  • Generate timely, accurate programmatic reports and other deliverables for the Project Director and donors.
  • Communicate with donors and partners about project progress.
  • Contribute to program-focused activities, training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Provide technical inputs on Global Health Security priorities.
  • Implement quality improvement strategies and measure program areas’ quality routinely.
  • Coordinate successful project activities within specified time frames and scope.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement for effective collaboration.
  • Support project budget monitoring to achieve goals.
  • Establish sound management systems for cohesive project implementation.
  • Contribute to scientific writing for manuscript development and presentations.
  • Facilitate knowledge management coordination, development, and resource retention.
  • Stay informed on current Global Health Security programs and their implications for project activities.
  • Ensure Jhpiego and EGHS projects fulfill commitments to donors and stakeholders.
  • Comply with Jhpiego and JHU operational policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree or equivalent experience in Public Health, Sociology, or related discipline; Masters-level Degree preferred.
  • Program management and Quality Improvement certification strongly preferred.
  • 9+ years of experience in management, operational, and technical expertise, with a preference in Global health security and public health program implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience working with CDC programs and familiarity with the Government of Nigeria’s health systems.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, including technical writing for publication.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse international teams and a willingness to learn and empower others.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and intense pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate with a wide range of local and international partner organizations.
  • Experience in maintaining donor relations.
  • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building, and coordination.

Salary: N892,312.50 – N1,455,947.92 Annually.
